How are the cypress and echinacea extracts in the Phytostandard duo selected? Widespread in Europe and Asia, the fruit of the cypress, more precisely the nut, is what contains the compounds. We harvest the nut when it is still green, because it is at this stage that it contains a maximum of compounds. Cypress harvesting is delicate, because the trees selected are wild, very tall and often located in steep areas. Harvesting by hand is dangerous. We implement collection management plans to respect the life cycle of the plant and preserve its perenniality. Echinacea, native to North America and Europe, is a perennial plant, meaning it lives for more than two years, has thick stems and purple flowers. We use the roots for our Phytostandard extract. They must be two years old to guarantee a high content of compounds. After harvesting in Drôme, the roots are frozen on site and transported to the extract manufacturing center in Ariège. Our Drôme producers provide us with the largest quantities of echinacea. For reasons of security of supply, we have diversified and also turn to Germany.
